You can give Reiki to yourself any time of the day. Some people like to start with it first thing in the morning to prepare for the day ahead. Others find it helpful to end the day with Reiki, helping the body to relax and unwind. Ideally, it is best to set aside a full hour for a Reiki self-treatment, but this is not always possible, so setting aside 15 – 20 minutes on a regular basis will produce good results and real benefits in your daily life.
Tips to use when conducting this healing is to imagine that golden, healing energy is flowing from your hands into your body, circulating along the subtle energy pathways, nourishing every cell and organ. Besides that, leave your hands at the particular area as long as it is comfortable. It is normal to notice that the area of that body part becomes warms as the energy circulates.
Steps for stress relief with Reiki is as follow:
Either sit in a comfortable upright position or lie down where you won’t be disturbed. Set your alarm clock if you have a time limit, and switch off phones.
Place both hands over your eyes and center yourself by breathing gently into the abdomen. Take in a deep breath, hold for a few moments and exhale. Repeat this a few times. This helps to restore strained eyes and clear tension headaches. Move your hands to the tempers to clear an overactive or tired mind.
Next, move your hands round to the back of your head and neck area, releasing its tension and refreshing the brain.
Then, put your hands on either side of your neck. This helps the thyroid gland and the area associated with the communication.
Next, place your hands above your chest to help with lymph drainage and the clearing of toxins from the body.
Then, move your hands down to the sternum, with fingers meeting at the heart chakra. This helps to restore emotional equilibrium.
Finish with your hands below the navel to center yourself.
When you have completed your reiki self-healing session, open your eyes slowly. Sit quietly for few moments and feel gratitude for all that supports you in your life.

12 tips for self-healing through Reiki
Reiki is a form of spiritual healing stimulated through the use of different hand positions laid for varying amounts of time over the patient’s body. You can purportedly heal yourself through Reiki by adjusting the hand positions to work on your own body. These are a few tips to use when practicing Reiki self-healing:
Identify your ailment. While utilizing all the Reiki positions can be beneficial, targeting a specific area can expedite the healing process.
Touch your body only lightly with your fingertips or keep them hovering right above your skin. The energy flow is what is being channeled, so the actual touching of your body is unnecessary.
Cover your eyes by cupping your hands. This position heals sinus ailments that can be found in ear, nose, and throat, and in addition, eases stress.
Improve concentration by placing your palms over your temples.
Focus on your ears which, as with acupuncture, heal a lot of ailments. Cup your hands over your ears for this position.
Express yourself more clearly and ease your throat by hovering (not touch!) your hands and fingers over your throat.
Aid in asthma issues by placing your hands, palms facing in, over your chest. Your fingertips should be touching and your wrists should be at a ninety-degree angle to your body.
Control and improve digestion by placing your hands over your abdomen. This position is similar to the previous step but your hands should be about six inches further down your body.
Treat depression by holding your hands over your naval area. Your fingertips should be touching directly over your navel.
Relieve your body of sexual dysfunction, both emotional and physical, by positioning your hands over your pubic bone. Your fingertips should be pointing toward the opposite foot.
Treat your relationship issues by holding your hands over your lower back. The tips of your fingers should be pointed down and your wrists should be about equal to your waistline.
Concentrate on your feet to treat most areas of the body at the same time, as all your organs and chakras are centered on your feet. Hold one foot with both hands, one hand covering the bottom of the foot and one hand resting on top.
